Prabhath Madusanka, alias ‘Midigama Chuti,’ an alleged member of an organised criminal gang, was brought back to Sri Lanka this morning (30) after being taken into custody in Oman.

He was escorted to the Bandaranaike International Airport by a team of special police officers.

Madusanka, who is linked to multiple criminal activities, had been arrested by Omani authorities last year while an international red notice was in effect against him.

Accordingly, a team of three officers from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) had travelled to Oman to facilitate his return.

He arrived at the airport at 4:27 a.m. today on SalamAir flight OV-437, according to local reports.

Following the recording of his statements, he is to be transferred to the CID headquarters in Colombo for further investigations.
