The Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) has decided to launch another islandwide one-day token strike from 8.00 a.m. today (2), in protest against what it describes as unlawful political interference in the transfer of doctors and the placement of post-intern medical officers.
The decision follows an earlier one-day strike carried out on 31 March, which concluded on the morning of 1 April. However, the GMOA said that the issues raised during the previous action had not been adequately addressed.
Accordingly, the decision to resume trade union action was taken at an emergency executive committee meeting convened yesterday afternoon (1), citing the failure of authorities to provide satisfactory solutions to the concerns raised.
