New People’s Front leader Sugeeshwara Bandara lodged a complaint with the Thalangama Police this morning over an alleged assault near the residence of Finance Ministry Secretary Harshana Suriyapperuma in Pelawatte.

A party spokesperson said that Bandara was threatened and attacked while arriving with supporters for a protest held in the vicinity of Suriyapperuma’s residence.

The complaint reportedly names 13 individuals, alleged to be members of the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna, as being involved in the incident.

Meanwhile, Finance Ministry Secretary Harshana Suriyapperuma had also lodged a separate complaint with the Thalangama Police yesterday.

Police recorded a statement from Bandara in connection with the complaint made by the Secretary.
