Sri Lanka’s 77th Independence Day in 2025 will be celebrated at Independence Square, Colombo, with the participation of 1,600 guests, said Chandana Abayarathne, Minister of Public Administration, Home Affairs, Provincial Councils, and Local Government.

The minister shared this information during the first committee meeting to organise the event.

The ceremony on 4 February 2025 will be conducted in a simple and elegant manner, with an emphasis on reducing costs while preserving the dignity and honour of Sri Lanka. Additionally, the government plans to provide an opportunity for the public to witness the celebration, the minister said.
