Sri Lanka’s Chamari Athapattu has been nominated for the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy for Women’s Cricketer of the Year 2024, with outstanding performances across all formats. Athapatthu, who led the Sri Lankan team in all formats, displayed her exceptional all-round ability by crossing the 1000-run mark and taking 30 wickets in 2024.

The 34-year-old’s year included an unbeaten 195 in an ODI against South Africa, which became the third-highest individual score in women’s ODI history. In the Women’s Asia Cup, she scored 304 runs to help Sri Lanka win their first title, earning her the Player of the Tournament award.

Athapattu’s all-round performance has cemented her place among the best in women’s cricket, and her contributions with bat and ball have brought her to the top of the ICC rankings for batsmen and all-rounders in ODIs and T20Is.

She joins a list of players nominated for the award including South Africa’s Laura Wohlwadt, Australia’s Annabelle Sutherland and New Zealand’s Mellie Kerr, all of whom have enjoyed prominence across formats over the years.
