Former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has filed a petition before the Court of Appeal seeking an order preventing his arrest under the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA) in connection with ongoing investigations into the 2019 Easter Sunday terror attacks.

The petition, filed through Attorney-at-Law Sanath Wijewardena, names the Inspector General of Police, Director of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Shani Abeysekara, and CID Officer-in-Charge Madhya Gunawardena as respondents.

Rajapaksa has requested the Court of Appeal to issue an order restraining authorities from arresting him under the PTA in relation to the investigations being conducted into the Easter Sunday attacks.
