Pivithuru Hela Urumaya leader and former MP Udaya Gammanpila said former State Intelligence Service (SIS) Director Suresh Sallay would protect the intelligence information in his possession with his life to prevent a repeat of past security failures.

Speaking to the media, Gammanpila said intelligence sources share information only with officers they trust, rejecting claims that Sallay should hand over all intelligence information upon retirement.

Referring to the Millennium City incident, he alleged that 73 people lost their lives after details of military intelligence informants were handed over to the Police. He said Sallay would safeguard the information in his possession to ensure such a tragedy would never happen again.
