Former Navy Commander Wasantha Karannagoda was arrested by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) today.
Karannagoda had previously been summoned by the Commission in connection with an investigation into the recruitment of Yoshitha Rajapaksa as an Executive Officer in the Sri Lanka Navy and his subsequent training at the Britannia Royal Naval College.
He failed to appear before the Commission on an earlier occasion, citing illness.
Yoshitha Rajapaksa was arrested by CIABOC last month in connection with the same probe and was later released on bail. However, the Commission has not officially confirmed whether Karannagoda’s arrest is related to that investigation.
