Dengue cases top 61,000; death toll rises to 39

The number of dengue cases reported in Sri Lanka has risen to 61,060, according to the National Dengue Control Unit.

Acting Director of the National Dengue Control Unit said 5,663 cases had been reported during the first five days of July, indicating a continued surge in infections.

A total of 39 dengue-related deaths have been recorded so far this year. Among those who died were five children under the age of five, according to the National Dengue Control Unit.
