“Squid Game” Season 2 is topping the viewership charts with 68 million viewers in its debut week, breaking the No. 1 spot in 92 countries as the most-watched show in its debut week as well as the most-watched list.
The new season began streaming on December 26, 2024, three years after the first season.
The first season had 265.2 million viewers, but the season went on to break records and reach No. 7 in terms of diversity.
The milestone was achieved when many fans commented on posts on the official Instagram handle saying that they had watched the entire season in less than twenty-four hours while waiting for “Season 3.” However, some viewers seemed disappointed after comparing the new season to the previously aired season. Nevertheless, actions speak louder than words, and reels featuring the “Squid Game” have been trending on various social media platforms.
The cast of “Squid Game” Season 2 includes Lee Jung-jae as Seong Gi-hun (Player 456), Lee Byung-hun as The Front Man, Hwang Jun-ho as Wi Ha-jun, Yim Si-wan as Myung- gi (player 333), Kang Ha-neul as Dae-ho (player 388), Lee Jin-uk as Gyeong-seok (player 246), Park Sung-hoon as Hyun-ju (player 120), Jo Yuri Jun-hee (player 222), Choi Seung-hyun as Thanos (player 230), and Gong Yoo are among the recruits, among many others.
The dystopian horror drama created by Hwang Dong-hyuk explores themes of morality and despair. In the series, with games, participants compete in a deadly competition to win a cash prize at the risk of their lives. Season 2 provided a closer look at the participants and their inner struggles.
According to the producers’ official announcement, “Squid Game” will return with season 3 in 2025.
