The Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Vindhya Jayasekara as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) effective January 1, 2025. Ms. Jayasekara will succeed the current CEO, Mr. Rajeeva Bandaranaike, who will retire in 2025 after 11 years in the position.
Ms. Jayasekara brings over two decades of experience in the capital markets, including expertise on both the buy-side and sell-side across the investment banking and asset management industries.
Prior to her appointment at CSE, she served as Chief Investment Officer of NDB Wealth Management Limited, where she led the Asset Management Division, overseeing assets under management in excess of RKR 380 billion (approximately). During her tenure, she managed approximately RKR 100 billion (approximately) in mutual fund assets across eight funds with diverse risk-return profiles, including investments in treasury bills, bonds, debentures, corporate debt and equity instruments.
Her career in finance began with NDB Investment Bank, where from the outset she was an integral part of the teams that successfully executed the two largest initial public offerings (IPOs) in the history of the then Colombo Stock Exchange. Ms. Jayasekara was also selected as a summer fellow at Lehman Brothers in the United States of America under the prestigious “Fulbright-Lehman Brothers Outstanding New Leaders in Finance” scholarship program in 2007.
In addition to her professional roles, Ms. Jayasekara is an external lecturer and resource person at several leading academic and professional institutions including the University of Colombo, the Financial Services Academy of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka (SEC) and the Centre for Banking Studies of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka. She lectures on financial markets and related subject areas.
Ms. Jayasekara is a CFA charterholder and a Certified Financial Risk Manager (FRM) accredited by the Association of Global Risk Professionals. She is also an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (ACMA) and holds the designation of Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA).
She was awarded the prestigious Fulbright Scholarship, under which she obtained a Master of Science in Finance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, USA, graduating with a Medal for Academic Excellence. Her academic foundation was established at the University of Moratuwa, where she obtained a First Class Honours Degree in Science in Civil Engineering.
