Deputy Minister of Land and Irrigation Susil Ranasinghe has announced that a special investigation is being launched into land allocations made for various purposes since 2015.

Speaking to the media after a ceremony in Anuradhapura, he stated that necessary legal action would follow the investigation.

“Land is being allocated to industries and agriculture through the Land Reform Commission (LRC). However, in the past, there have been significant issues with land distribution and transfers. Recently, the Cabinet decided to suspend land allocations through the LRC until an investigation is conducted to identify recipients of land from the commission since 2015,” Ranasinghe explained.

He further noted, “This investigation will examine the grounds for these allocations and whether any corruption or irregularities have occurred. We aim to complete it promptly.”
