Less than a week after we rang in 2025, the 82nd annual Golden Globe Awards season has begun, and the celebrities on the red carpet certainly didn’t disappoint.
Comedian Nicky Glazer kicked off what he called “the biggest night in the ocean” with the promise of “I’m not here to burn you.”
The first winner of the night was Zoe Saldaña, who won the award for best supporting actress. Saldaña won for her performance in Jacques Audiard’s Emilia Pérez, a trance musical that garnered 10 top nominations.
FX’s Shogun opened earlier with wins for Hiroyuki Sanada for best actor in a drama series and Tadanobu Asano for best supporting actor in a drama series. “I’m so happy!” Asano exclaimed, throwing his hands in the air.
“I never thought I’d be this happy to be called a hack,” said Jean Smart, who won her second Globe for best actress in a TV comedy for her breakout role in Hacks on Hacks, which earned her three straight Emmys.
Kieran Culkin won his second Golden Globe for best supporting actor for his role in A Real Pain.
“My wife and I had a tequila shot with Mario Lopez — it definitely felt like the whole story was lost,” he began, before shifting gears to express his sincere gratitude.
Colin Farrell took home his third career Golden Globe, this time for best actor in a limited series, anthology and made-for-television movie for his role in The Penguin.
Demi Moore won her first Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Motion Picture (Musical or Comedy) and gave a moving speech about her reinvention as an actor.
Baby Reindeer won the Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture, Limited Series, Anthology or Television Film, with creator and star Richard Gad winning. Best Comedy went to Hacks and Best Drama to Shogun, making it a truly golden night.
Adrien Brody and Fernanda Torres won top acting honors, while the two best picture Globes went to Bratlist and Emilia Perez.
The Emmy Globes, no longer presented by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, are still in comeback mode after years of scandal and organizational upheaval.
