The Walt Disney Company has committed $15 million to support response and rebuilding efforts to the deadly wildfires that ravaged the Los Angeles area this week.
The Disney company says the money will help services on the ground, such as the American Red Cross, the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation, the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank and more.
“As this tragedy continues to unfold, The Walt Disney Company is committed to supporting our community and our employees as we all work together to recover and rebuild from this incredible devastation,” said CEO Bob Iger. “Walt Disney came to Los Angeles with more than his boundless imagination, and it was here that he chose to make his home, pursue his dreams, and create extraordinary stories that mean so much to so many people around the world.”
At least 16 people had died as of Saturday, and the Eaton and Palisades fires were among the five most destructive wildfires in California since records began in 1932.
The fires continued to burn, and weather officials issued a new round of red flag warnings as Santa Ana winds were expected to continue to batter the region.
