Police have located the schoolgirl abducted in Daulagala, Kandy, on the morning of 11 January. The girl and the primary suspect were found aboard a luxury bus near the Ampara Bus Stand on 13 January, just before its departure for Kandy.

The suspect, now under arrest, is being interrogated.

According to preliminary investigations, the abductor is a close relative—the son of the girl’s father’s sister. Police revealed that the abduction stemmed from a family conflict over a proposed marriage. While both families initially consented to the union, the girl’s father later withdrew his approval, prompting the suspect to take drastic action
