The Department of Meteorology forecasts showers or thundershowers across most parts of the island, accompanied by cloudy skies.

Fairly heavy showers, up to 100mm, are likely in Eastern, Uva, Central, and Southern provinces, as well as in the Polonnaruwa District.

Fairly strong winds of 30-40 kmph are expected in Northern, Eastern, North-central, North-western, and Uva provinces, and in Matara and Hambantota districts.

The public is urged to take precautions to minimise potential damage from temporary strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
