The Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) indices reached historic milestones today (January 21), with the All Share Price Index (ASPI) crossing the 16,500 mark and the S&P SL20 crossing the 5,000 mark for the first time in capital market history.

The ASPI rose 224.01 points to hit a new all-time high of 16,597.16, up 1.37% from the previous close.

Meanwhile, the S&P SL20 rose 94.71 points to 5,056.74, an increase of 1.91%.

8.31 billion rupees and more than 241 million shares were exchanged during the day.
