24-year-old Sonal Dinusha of Sri Lanka will be called to the 17-member squad for the Test series against Australia. According to sources close to the selectors, the 24-year-old bowling all-rounder is likely to be asked to join the preparation camp from today.

Newcomer Sonal Dinusha is a slow left-arm spinner and a left-arm batsman. The squad, though yet to be announced, met in Galle yesterday and a training camp will begin under the supervision of head coach Sanath Jayasuriya and his support staff members.

“It doesn’t go to regular practice sessions, but a rare kind of camp setup for the home tournament. Normally, we hold camps only before the team goes on tour and only network sessions for the home tournament. This year the camp will be held before the regular training sessions. Network sessions on January 26 to start from,” the source exclusively informs.

Patham has a long-term groin injury and we are monitoring his injury. The first of the two Tests is still more than a week away. If he misses the first Test, he will be available for the second Test,” the source added.

The touring Australian team will arrive on January 25 under the captaincy of Steve Smith, who is injury free.
