A case alleging financial misconduct amounting to Rs. 70 million in the leasing of land at the Krrish Transworks Square in Colombo was presented before the Fort Magistrate’s Court today (22).

SLPP MP Namal Rajapaksa, listed as a suspect in the matter and currently released on bail, appeared in court as the trial resumed.

Investigating officers revealed that the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) has opened an independent inquiry into Rajapaksa over the same incident.

Magistrate Nilupuli Lankapura instructed that the CID-led case be revisited on 4 June, pending the Attorney General’s legal advice on the matter.
