The Sri Lanka Foreign Employment Bureau (SLFEB) has set an ambitious goal of facilitating foreign employment for 340,000 Sri Lankan citizens this year.

SLFEB Chairman Koshala Wickramasinghe announced this during an awareness programme for newly licensed foreign employment agents held at the Bureau of Foreign Employment on 23 January.

In 2024, the bureau successfully placed 311,000 individuals in foreign employment, and plans are underway to achieve a 12% increase in 2025.

The chairman stressed the importance of maintaining a regulated process for overseas employment placements. He also highlighted concerns about reports of fraudulent activities by some licensed agencies, assuring that strict legal action will be taken against offenders, irrespective of their status.
