Sri Lanka opener Pathum Nissanka has been ruled out of the first Test of the home series against Australia.

The first match of the “Warne-Murali Test Series” between Sri Lanka and Australia will be played from January 29 to February 2, while the second Test will be played at the GICS in Galle from February 6 to 10, 2025.

Pathum Nissanka suffered a groin injury while batting in an ODI against New Zealand in Auckland earlier this month.

The 26-year-old was included in the Dhananjaya de Silva-led Test squad on a fitness basis, however, it was later announced that he would not be fit to take part in the first Test, which begins on Wednesday (29).
