Sri Lanka, UAE Investment Protection Agreement Finalized

A proposed Investment Promotion and Protection Agreement between Sri Lanka and the United Arab Emirates has been finalized following discussions held in Colombo from January 27 to 29, 2025.

The discussions were held in a friendly and cooperative manner, and both sides reached agreement on the text of the proposed agreement, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

The Sri Lankan delegation was led by Thilani Silva, Deputy Legal Adviser to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism, while the UAE delegation was led by Dr. Hamid Nasser Abdulkadir, Economic Specialist at the Ministry of Finance.

The Foreign Ministry said it expects to sign the agreement in the near future.
