Former captain Dimuth Karunaratne has informed Sri Lanka Cricket that the second Test against Australia, starting in Galle on February 6, will be his last international match.

A pillar of Sri Lankan Test batting for over a decade, Karunaratne has recently struggled for runs, which led to his retirement from the game. Despite his poor playing style, he remains one of Sri Lanka’s most successful Test openers, having played a crucial role in several memorable victories.

As he retires a day after 100 Tests, his retirement will mark the end of an era for Sri Lankan cricket. The Galle Test will be an emotional farewell for the veteran batsman.
