Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) General Secretary Ranjith Madduma Bandara says his party is making significant progress in election preparations, with discussions with the United National Party (UNP) proving productive.

Speaking to the media after meeting regional UNP representatives, he stressed that while unification talks are advancing, there will be no compromise on leadership—Sajith Premadasa must lead, as he holds the strongest public mandate.

Madduma Bandara also dismissed concerns about competition, stating that the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) poses no real challenge to the SJB. He further clarified that apart from discussions with the UNP, no other political alliances are being pursued.
