The Cabinet has approved the award of a four-year contract to Lufthansa Technik (LHT)/Hamburg to overhaul Sri Lankan Airlines’ CFM 56-5B engines.

The CFM56-5B engines, which are commonly found on the Airbus A320 aircraft operated by SriLankan Airlines, are being overhauled and maintained.

International competitive bidding was invited, and seven bids were received for the contract.

Following the recommendations of the Technical Evaluation Committee and the Standing Procurement Committee, the Cabinet approved the proposal submitted by the President in his capacity as Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, and awarded the contract to Lufthansa Technik, the lowest responsive bidder, for the contract for the overhaul and maintenance, overhaul and operational overhaul of SriLankan Airlines’ CFM 56-5B engines.
