The Fire Department has initiated preliminary investigations into two fires at the “Krrish” building, Colombo’s tallest structure.
Officials have identified several possible causes, with the primary factor being the unsafe use of gas cutters for cutting iron. Consequently, the department has instructed relevant authorities to cease the use of gas cutters for this purpose.
A government analyst report has been requested to support further investigations.
The first fire broke out on the 35th floor on 6 February, followed by a second fire on the 24th floor on 7 February. In both instances, the Fire Department deployed six fire engines, with three used to combat each fire.
In response, security at the “Krrish” building has been tightened, with 20 police officers deployed to safeguard the premises.
