The convenor of the Nawa Sinhale National Movement, Dan Priyasad, was arrested by Sri Lanka Police this morning (11) upon arrival at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) from Dubai, Ada Derana reported.

He is set to be produced before the Galgamuwa Magistrate’s Court, police confirmed.

According to Police Media Spokesperson SSP Buddhika Manatunga, the Nikaweratiya Divisional Crimes Unit launched an investigation against Priyasad over allegations of attempting to prevent the Nan Eriya Police OIC from arresting a drug trafficker in 2024.

As a result, the Galgamuwa Magistrate’s Court had issued a foreign travel ban and an arrest warrant against him.
