A Ryanair flight from Rome has been grounded for two days after a cat was found on board. The New York Post reported that a meowing kitten was found shortly before takeoff.
A maintenance worker later removed some panels from the plane, revealing an unexpected, gerbil-like kitten in the electrical bay.
Photos show the black-and-white cat peeking out from its perch. However, the plane, which was heading to the plane’s drive, was forced to retreat, which may have ultimately led to the flight being grounded for safety reasons.
The crew continued to remove the panels to find the elusive tabby, but the cat continued to play dress-up, moving from one part of the plane to another – the situation became highly dangerous.
After a struggle, the stubborn cat finally decided to temporarily remove the extension, and slipped through an open door, down a flight of stairs, and into a large oil slick – literally turning it into a catwalk.
In a surprise attack by the cat invasion, the plane took two full days off the plane before resuming its journey.
While this precaution may seem excessive, the aggressive felines were a serious threat at the altitudes at which they were flying, costing the airline thousands of dollars, sources said.
