Sri Lanka won the toss and will bat first against Australia in the second of the two-match ODI series at the Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

Travis Head and Glenn Maxwell will return for Friday’s match to bolster the Australian side, which lost the opening match by 49 runs on Wednesday.

Head was rested for the first match while Maxwell was ill.

Australia’s top run-scorer in the first match, Marnus Labuschagne, has been dropped with fellow wicketkeeper Josh Inglis replaced by Alex Carey. He missed the first match as he recovers from a back injury he sustained in the second Test.

Spencer Johnson and Cooper Connelly are replaced by left-arm pacer Ben Dwarshuis and leg-spinner Tanvir Sangah.

Second-order pacers Shaun Abbott, Nathan Ellis, Dwarshuis and Johnson provide cover for captain Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Starc, who went home for personal reasons after the recent second Test.

Cummins (ankle and paternity leave), Hazlewood (calf injury) and Starc (personal reasons) will miss the soon-to-be-announced Champions Trophy, along with Mitchell Marsh (back) and Marcus Stoinis (retired).
