Fonterra Brands Lanka has strengthened its commitment to the dairy industry in Sri Lanka with the opening of a new Milk Collection and Cooling Center (MCC) in Hanwella.
This initiative will directly support hundreds of dairy farmers by providing them with better access to milk collection facilities and support services from Fonterra Brands Lanka.
By improving the efficiency of milk collection and storage, Fonterra Brands Lanka ensures that high-quality dairy products sourced locally reach remote areas.
Equipped with a 3,000 litre freezing capacity and state-of-the-art testing facilities, the new MCC will enable Fonterra Brands Lanka to source the highest quality milk while creating more opportunities for smallholder farmers to produce more milk.
By investing in infrastructure, technological resources and improved collection systems, Fonterra Brands Lanka aims to provide farmers with the tools and knowledge they need to improve productivity, quality and livelihoods. This initiative aligns with the company’s long-term goal of strengthening Sri Lanka’s dairy industry through sustainable growth and local partnerships.
Reflecting the collaborative effort to improve Sri Lanka’s dairy industry, Fonterra’s leadership team, the Regional Public Health Inspector, the Provincial Secretary, Regional Surgeons, Veterinarians and field staff from the Department of Animal Production and Health attended the opening ceremony.
