Amid a heated controversy over his comments on parenting and sexuality during his stand-up show Got Latent, India’s Supreme Court has granted temporary relief to YouTube star Ranveer Alabadia, granting him protection from arrest. The court ruled that no further police case can be filed against Alabadia in the matter and that he will not be arrested as long as he cooperates with the ongoing investigation.

Alabadia, who has faced multiple threats to his life and that of his family, has been asked to approach authorities in Maharashtra or Assam for protection. However, the court ordered Allahabadia to surrender his passport to the police in Thane, Maharashtra, and not to leave the country without permission.

Allahabadia’s comments sparked outrage, leading to police complaints and threats. During the court hearing, Justice Surya Kant strongly criticized Allahabadia, saying his words were “distorted” and damaging to social values. However, the judges also acknowledged the serious threats to Allahabadia’s life and assured him of the necessary legal protection.

In a video apology, Allahabadia admitted that his comments were “insensitive” and apologized for the lapse in judgment, admitting that he had misused his platform.
