Policeman Arrested Over Links to Woman Who Smuggled Gun for Ganemulla Sanjeewa Killing

A police officer from the Negombo Police has been arrested for his alleged connections with the woman who smuggled the weapon used in the killing of notorious underworld figure “Ganemulla Sanjeewa” inside the Hulftsdorp Court Complex.

The woman, identified as Pinpura Dewage Ishara Sewwandi from Negombo, disguised herself as a lawyer and concealed the firearm inside a hollowed-out copy of the Code of Criminal Procedure, police spokesperson SSP Buddhika Manatunga revealed. the suspect is still at large.

Ganemulla Sanjeewa was shot dead yesterday (19) morning while giving testimony at the Magistrate’s Court. The gunman, also disguised as a lawyer, retrieved the hidden pistol, approached Sanjeewa, and opened fire before escaping.
