A special display of the Sacred Tooth Relic of the Buddha would be held after the Sinhala and Tamil New Year festive season, President Anura Kumara Dissanayake revealed today (23).

Dissanayake made the announcement while speaking to the media after meeting with the Mahanayake Theros of the Malwathu and Asgiriya Chapters in Kandy. The President also visited the Sri Dalada Maligawa.

He stated that he requested a special display of the Sacred Tooth Relic from the Mahanayake Theros and received a positive response.

“A special display of the Tooth Relic is happening after about 16 years, as far as I remember. I requested the Mahanayake Theros, and they did not object. Accordingly, further steps will be taken in coordination with the Mahanayake Theros and the Diyawadana Nilame, and a final decision will be made after their discussions,” the President told reporters.
