The Cabinet of Ministers has granted approval to proceed with drafting a bill for the establishment of a Gambling Regulatory Authority.

On 26 June 2023, the then-Cabinet approved the creation of an independent Gambling Regulatory Authority to standardise gambling institutions, minimise social harm, promote tourism, and drive economic growth.

The Legal Draftsman has now sought the concurrence of the current Cabinet to continue the drafting process. Accordingly, the proposal submitted by the President, in his capacity as Minister of Finance, Planning, and Economic Development, to grant policy approval for the bill’s formulation with immediate effect has received Cabinet approval.
