Former President Ranil Wickremesinghe has refuted claims that he plans to return to Parliament at the end of the year following the resignation of a National List MP from the National Democratic Front (NDF).

Speaking to the media after a meeting with NDF’s Young Lawyers, Wickremesinghe said:

“A person with a Ferrari licence won’t waste time with those holding L boards. I have no intention of being part of an L board Parliament.”

He further stated that he had fulfilled his duty as President and was satisfied with his contributions.

“Now, the people have entrusted that responsibility to a new group, and it is their duty to meet public expectations,” he added.
