Former Minister Mervyn Silva was arrested by Criminal Investigation Department (CID) officers at his residence in Pelawatte, Battaramulla, last night (5 March).

Police said he was taken into custody over allegations of embezzling funds through fraudulent documents related to a plot of land in Kelaniya.

The CID has launched further investigations and confirmed that Silva will be produced in court.
