Internationally acclaimed singer, songwriter, and entrepreneur Aloe Blacc arrived in Sri Lanka this morning (10) at the invitation of the new government and the Sri Lanka Tourist Board. His visit extends beyond music, as he seeks to explore investment opportunities and collaborations in biotechnology, healthcare innovation, and entrepreneurship, according to the President’s Media Division (PMD).
Professor Gomika Udugamasooriya, Senior Advisor to the President on Science and Technology, welcomed Blacc upon his arrival at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA).
Speaking at the airport, Blacc expressed his excitement about contributing to Sri Lanka’s growing reputation as an attractive investment destination. He emphasized the opportunity to collaborate with the Sri Lankan government and the National Initiative for Research and Development Commercialization (NIRDC), and to witness firsthand the country’s ongoing investments in various sectors.
Blacc also highlighted his global investor network, stating his intention to share Sri Lanka’s economic potential with stakeholders in the United States and beyond.
During his two-day visit, Blacc will engage with local entrepreneurs and artists, fostering collaborations that could benefit Sri Lanka’s cultural and scientific communities. His itinerary includes meetings with senior officials from the Presidential Secretariat and discussions with business leaders specializing in cashew products, coconut-based goods, organic produce, natural energy drinks, and agriculture, with a special focus on authentic Ceylon cinnamon.
Additionally, he will meet with biotechnology experts, participate in investment forums, and engage in interactive sessions with aspiring musicians and innovators. His visit also includes cultural excursions to Sigiriya and Minneriya, highlighting Sri Lanka’s rich heritage.
Blacc, who originally aspired to be a scientist, founded Major Inc. in 2022 after contracting COVID-19, focusing on biotechnology solutions to prevent pandemics. His company collaborates with leading scientists to develop treatments that block viral infections. Beyond biotech, he has invested in technology start-ups like Polygraf and Giroptic, showcasing his commitment to innovation.
In addition to his entrepreneurial pursuits, Blacc remains a significant figure in music and philanthropy. His latest album, Stand Together (2025), promotes unity and resilience. He also premiered the song Shine at the Aurora Prize for Awakening Humanity ceremony in April 2024, underscoring his dedication to social impact through music.
