Rising rapper Douchey has been named Billboard’s 2025 Woman of the Year, joining Taylor Swift, SZA, Lady Gaga and last year’s honoree Carole G.
The news comes a month after Douchey won the Grammy for Best Rap Album, becoming only the third woman to win in the category.
When it came time to give her acceptance speech, tears welled up. “This category was introduced in 1989. Two women have won, Lauryn Hill —” she corrected herself. “Three women have won. Lauryn Hill, Cardi B and Douchey.”
Now, she will be honored as Woman of the Year at the Billboard Women’s Music Awards on March 29. Previous honorees include Madonna, Cardi B, Billie Eilish, Selena Gomez and Ariana Grande.
In 2024, the Associated Press named Douche’s breakout mixtape “Alligator Bites Never Heal” one of the best albums of the year — a versatile album that’s brimming with the romance of her smooth R&B and the edginess of her flows.
“Douche is taking pop culture by storm, becoming only the third woman in history to win the Grammy for Best Rap Album this year, wowing fans across all genres with her breathtaking performances, incredibly honest lyrics and utterly unique sound, style and soul,” Billboard editor-in-chief Hannah Karp said in a statement. “We are excited to celebrate Dochie and celebrate her continued success.”
Other honorees at the Billboard Women’s Music Awards include aespa, Ángela Aguilar, Erykah Badu, GloRilla, Gracie Abrams, Jennie of Blackpink, Megan Moroney, Meghan Trainor, Muni Long and Tyla.
The awards show will take place at the YouTube Theater in Hollywood Park in Los Angeles and will be hosted by Laverne Cox.
