Vedda Chief Uruwarige Vannila Aththo has announced plans for legal action against two social media activists who created and shared a video misrepresenting indigenous culture.

Speaking to the media, he stated that the video was made for commercial gain at the expense of the Vedda community’s heritage. He added that despite contacting the creators to address the issue, they had not responded, further damaging the community’s reputation.

He also emphasised that the video distorts the indigenous language and reaffirmed his commitment to pursuing legal measures to protect their cultural integrity.
