Opposition MP Chamara Sampath Dassanayake today urged the Speaker to take action against a COPE member who had referred to him as ‘Badulle Bada’ during a recent committee meeting.

“This member of COPE clearly referred to me as ‘Badulle Bada’ since there is no other MP in Badulla District with a large belly. It is obviously me, as others in Badulla, including Minister Samantha Vidyaratne, do not have a pot belly,” Dassanayake said.

He urged the Speaker to advise COPE members to maintain decorum during meetings.
