The Deputy Minister of Finance will make a statement in Parliament regarding the conflict-of-interest allegations against President’s Economic Advisor Duminda Hulangamuwa, Cabinet Spokesperson Nalinda Jayatissa announced today (26 March).

Jayatissa made this remark in response to a question from a journalist during the weekly Cabinet media briefing.

Hulangamuwa is facing mounting scrutiny following his remarks during an interview on Ada Derana 360 with anchor Kalindu Karunaratne. As a senior figure at Ernst & Young while also serving as an economic advisor to the president, concerns have been raised about a potential conflict of interest. Critics question whether his dual roles grant him access to sensitive state financial information that could benefit his firm.

The issue has sparked debate, with calls for greater transparency in the government’s advisory appointments.
