COYLE (Council of Sri Lanka Entrepreneurs) seeks to support and assist government officials in this need by assembling a panel of export-oriented industry experts. COYLE is a vibrant community of entrepreneurs, including a number of well-experienced export-earning entrepreneurs and manufacturers. The diverse products and services implemented by our members generate the highest revenue in the Sri Lankan export trade market.

This initiative is a result of the United States imposing a 44% reciprocal tariff on selected import categories. These new tariffs are expected to impact export volumes, supporting service businesses and jobs. Recognizing the potential long-term consequences of this change, COYLE is collaborating with stakeholders across government as a source of support.

The panel focuses on key export sectors, including rubber, tea, spices, garments, electrical products and electronic components, which play a central role in Sri Lanka’s export identity.

“We believe that the private sector must play a central role in overcoming the challenges posed by changing global trade dynamics,” said a COYLE spokesperson. “Our aim is to provide well-informed, sector-specific recommendations that support the government’s efforts to maintain competitiveness, promote investment and strengthen our national economic position.”

By bringing together independent perspectives and sector expertise, this initiative is an embodiment of COYLE’s commitment to collective progress. COYLE firmly believes that urgent action is needed to sustain Sri Lanka’s export demand in the face of global disruptions. The first immediate step is to study the situation and act quickly to prevent any loss in export volumes.

COYLE advocates for sustainable solutions to ensure continued access to global markets. The Council will explore ways to support Sri Lanka’s ease of doing business ranking, streamline export procedures, improve logistics infrastructure, and attract foreign direct investment in export manufacturing and value-added processing.

As Sri Lanka faces an evolving global economic landscape, COYLE aims to assist Sri Lankan businesses in overcoming challenges and seizing opportunities. COYLE remains committed to supporting the government and engaging in collaborative efforts to ensure a continued economic trajectory for Sri Lanka.
