‘Podi Lassie’ Granted Bail

Notorious underworld figure Janith Madushanka, alias “Podi Lassie,” has been granted bail by the Balapitiya Magistrate this morning (9).

Madushanka was the second suspect in a case involving alleged public death threats made at Boossa Prison against former President Maithripala Sirisena, the then Defence Secretary, and senior officials of the Prisons Department.

He had been in remand custody at the high-security Boossa Prison for over two years on multiple criminal charges, including drug trafficking in collaboration with officers from the Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB). Several cases against him remain pending in various courts.
