The Ministry of Transport, Highways, Ports and Civil Aviation has announced the launch of a pilot project this week to enable card payments on expressways.

The initial trial will be conducted at the Kottawa and Kadawatha interchanges, where commuters will be able to make payments using debit and credit cards, as well as QR code scanning.

Upon successful completion of the pilot phase, the Ministry plans to expand the card payment system to all expressways across Sri Lanka by May.
