A warm weather advisory has been issued for residents in the Northern, North-Central, North-Western, Western, Southern, and Eastern provinces, as well as the Ratnapura and Monaragala districts.

According to the Department of Meteorology, the heat index — the temperature felt by the human body — is expected to rise to the ‘Caution Level’ in several areas tomorrow.

“The Heat Index Forecast is calculated by using relative humidity and maximum temperature and this is the condition that is felt on your body,” the Department stated.

Prolonged exposure to the sun and outdoor activities may result in fatigue, and continued exertion could lead to heat cramps, it warned.

Residents are advised to stay hydrated and limit strenuous outdoor activities during peak heat hours.
