The Department of Government Information has refuted claims regarding a fake invitation circulating on social media, which falsely suggests that special invitations have been issued for a Sacred Tooth Relic Exposition.

In a media release, the department confirmed that no such invitation has been issued by the government and urged the public not to be misled by the fraudulent document. The public is advised to verify any related information through official channels, with contact details provided by the Director General of Government Information for further clarification.

This clarification comes as the Sacred Tooth Relic exposition (Siri Dalada Vandanawa) commenced today, 18 April, at the Sri Dalada Maligawa in Kandy. It marks the first public exposition of the relic in 16 years, offering thousands of devotees the rare opportunity to pay homage.

The inaugural viewing is scheduled from 3.00 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. today. From 19 to 27 April, the relic will be accessible daily from 12.00 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. President Anura Kumara Dissanayake is expected to participate in the opening ceremony.

The event is being held under the guidance of the Chief Prelates of the Malwathu and Asgiri Chapters and the Diyawadana Nilame of the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic. Authorities have emphasized that no special passes or separate queues have been arranged for VIPs, reinforcing equal access for all devotees.
