A fatal shooting was reported this evening (22) in Katiyana, Katana.

It has been reported that the businessman involved in the shooting is a former member of a Pradeshiya Sabha (PS).

Police said the incident occurred around 7:10 p.m. when an individual allegedly attempted to assault a businessman with a sharp weapon. In response, the businessman opened fire using a licensed firearm in his possession.

The attacker sustained gunshot injuries and succumbed to his wounds on the spot.
