Former MP of Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) Kabir Hashim said that he firmly believes Sajith Premadasa will be elected as President by December this year.

he was addressing a Local Government election meeting.

He further claimed that by then, current President Anura Kumara Dissanayake would step down and “go home.”

Hashim added that Premadasa is already preparing thoroughly to assume the presidency.

Meanwhile, former President Ranil Wickremesinghe commented that the current President’s alleged refusal to allocate funds to local government institutions indicates the government is aware of its likely defeat in the upcoming election.

Addressing a gathering of United National Party (UNP) candidates in the Kandy District, Wickremesinghe remarked:

“Not only do we have our usual voters, but also some who supported the NPP (Malimawa) in the last general election. Many of them are now disillusioned with the NPP. Try to engage with them and explain the reality.

Voters in this country have rejected traditional political parties. During the economic collapse, people turned to the NPP, hoping for solutions. But the NPP had no answers either. Now, many are fed up with the government.”
