Speaker Signs Proceeds of Crime Bill into Law

Speaker Jagath Wickramaratne endorsed the certificate on the Proceeds of Crime Bill on 30 April 2025 in Parliament, officially enacting it as the Proceeds of Crime Act, No. 05 of 2025.

The Bill was initially presented for its First Reading on 1 March 2025. The Second Reading debate took place on 8 April 2025, followed by consideration at the Committee Stage. It was subsequently passed without amendments and without a division during the Third Reading.
