Videos circulating on social media show buses carrying supporters to the National People’s Power (NPP) Labour Day (1 May) rally at Galle Face in Colombo stopping on expressways to have meals.

Although stopping vehicles and disembarking on expressways is prohibited by law, this regulation was reportedly violated yesterday.

In some clips, expressway traffic police officers can be seen nearby as the incidents occurred.

Several buses are shown parked along the expressway while passengers eat, raising concerns about safety and law enforcement.
